Power steering goes out when it rains

The steering suddenly fails during rain, triggering a red battery light on the dashboard. A failed steering rack seal can also cause all the fluid to leak out, leaving drivers stuck and completely unable to steer. This forces people to choose between risking damage to the power steering pump by driving or relying on a tow.
