Can I use Brita filters for hard water to protect my cat's urinary health?

Standard water filter pitchers remove chlorine and improve taste, but they do not eliminate the excess minerals in hard water that can contribute to urinary health concerns. Without a proper alternative like bottled or softened water, cat owners are left guessing whether everyday household filters are actually enough to keep their pets safe.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Using a Brita Elite water filter pitcher
  2. 2
Considering bottled water as an alternative
  3. 3
Turning on the tap or faucet for the cat when requested
  4. 4
Letting the cat drink directly from running water sources
