Why am I getting so many unsolicited acquisition and sales calls?

Growing businesses attract an overwhelming volume of spam, sales, and acquisition calls within hours of a number becoming active. This flood of calls forces owners to pay for artificial virtual answering services or call blockers just to manage the daily disruption.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
    Ignoring the calls
  2. 2
    Hanging up
  3. 3
paying for a virtual answering service
  4. 4
using an interactive voice response system that requires callers to press a digit before ringing

Within 24 hours of the number being active I had received 67 spam or sales calls! I couldn’t believe it!source ↗

To the point that I had to pay for a virtual answering service (you know the artificial ones).source ↗
