How to remove a drawer when something is stuck behind it

Objects falling behind a drawer prevent it from shutting fully, but removing the drawer is difficult when the tracks are underneath and lack obvious levers. Trying to bypass the mechanism by unscrewing the rails also fails because the drawer remains connected in the back.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
    Unscrewing the rails
  2. 2
Squeezing the release clips located under the front of the drawer and pulling it off the tracks.
  3. 3
Pushing small plastic buttons or levers on the rail itself.
  4. 4
    Lifting the drawer straight out.
  5. 5
Cursing and shaking the whole dresser.
