How to get out a stripped or stuck seatbelt bolt

Factory seatbelt bolts are frequently treated with heavy threadlocker and torqued down so tightly that impact wrenches and penetrating oils like PB Blaster fail to break them loose. This leaves you unable to remove backseat components or finish interior modifications.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Using a six-point socket and a breaker bar
  2. 2
Applying penetrating fluid, thread-locking solvent, or lubricant and letting it soak
  3. 3
Alternating tightening and loosening to work the threads
  4. 4
    Applying heat or candle wax
  5. 5
    Using a longer breaker bar
  6. 6
Using a higher torque impact wrench (rated for 850+ ft-lbs)
  7. 7
Soaking the fastener in penetrating fluid like PB Blaster
  8. 8
removing the accessory in front the pump covering that hole
  9. 9
holding the hex nut behind the bracket
  10. 10
    Spraying with WD-40
  11. 11
    Using vice grips
  12. 12
    Drilling out the bolts

I currently am trying to remove my backseat to install a seat delete. However I am having trouble getting the center bolt that holds the seatbelt brackets down. It is about half way out, but I can’t get it to move in any direction currently.source ↗

Hello! I need help with how to remove these bolts keeping my rear license plate in place. A wrench doesn’t seem to be doing the job. I sprayed them with wd40 to see if that would help loosen them up. Any tips appreciated.source ↗

I soaked it in PB Blaster overnight, tried again this morning. Nothing.source ↗
