How to get weed smell out without an ozone generator
Standard detailing and ozone machines often cause lung discomfort and seriously aggravate asthma. This makes it difficult to clear lingering pot and smoke odors from second-hand cars, travel trailers, and houses. Even after sealing major surfaces with shellac, the smell can still seep out of small spaces like light switches and electrical outlets.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1washing the walls, carpets, upholstery and just as many surfaces as possible
- 2using Odoban
- 3using cleaning vinegar
- 4contacting tour bus rental companies for advice
- 5searching the space to ensure no actual marijuana was left behind
- 6Coating the walls with shellac
- 7Replacing the cover plates and switches
- 8Replacing the electrical outlets themselves to discard odor-absorbing plastics
- 9running an ozone machine while the house is unoccupied
- 10installing foam draft-seal inserts behind the cover plates
- 11leaving outlet covers off to let the smell air out sooner
- 12scrubbing walls thoroughly and deep cleaning before painting
