Why is my brand new serpentine belt still squeaking?

A brand new serpentine belt can still squeak during startup, acceleration, or after driving in the rain. This ongoing noise prevents drivers from resolving the issue with a simple belt replacement alone, often requiring them to investigate pulleys, tensioners, or alignment.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Waiting for the belt to dry or go away by itself
  2. 2
Spraying the belt with silicone spray to diagnose
  3. 3
Replacing the belt and tensioner together
  4. 4
Inspecting and replacing faulty tensioners or pulleys
