What tools detect cut-and-paste and LLM cheating on assignments?

Students copy content directly from online reviews or AI tools, sometimes explicitly asking teachers to turn a blind eye to the cheating. Without reliable detection software to track paste events and editing time, educators are left spending money on specialized apps just to prove academic dishonesty.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Giving students a chance to rewrite plagiarized work
  2. 2
Writing a test passage in a journal to see if teachers actually read submissions
  3. 3
Rewriting and reordering online text to bypass search engines and plagiarism checkers
  4. 4
Using built-in Google Classroom originality reports
  5. 5
Using AI models to evaluate whether text was generated by AI
