How to take your dog out when you are sick or injured

When sudden illness or immobility hits, apartment and condo owners find themselves physically unable to walk their dogs. This sudden inability to get outside leaves pets without bathroom breaks and forces owners to scramble for emergency solutions like setting up a temporary patio potty.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Setting up fake turf or sod on the patio
  2. 2
Using a commercial product like a Pet Loo or Weasy smart potty
  3. 3
    Using puppy pads indoors
  4. 4
Hiring a dog walker or asking neighbors, friends, or family members for help

I couldn’t move let alone take my dog out at the time. I realize I need to set up a potty place on my patio for a circumstance like this.source ↗
