Why won't lights work after changing parts or wiring?

Lights and fan-light combinations can remain completely non-functional even after changing components like bulbs or working on wiring. This leaves specific fixtures, such as bathroom lights, bedroom fans, or headlights, dead because an underlying issue like a faulty connector remains unresolved.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
checking connections at the light fixture
  2. 2
    inspecting fuses and wiring
  3. 3
    cleaning terminal corrosion
  4. 4
    pinching terminals tighter
  5. 5
    replacing the pigtail connector
