Why is my front load washer rubber seal disintegrating?
The inner tub spinning off-center causes it to rub against the seal, tearing it around the inside groove. This constant friction erodes the rubber, leaving tiny shavings around the door and making the seal loose. Because the root cause is the off-center spin, even a brand-new replacement seal will disintegrate within a week.
