How to reach a frozen evaporator coil blocked by refrigerant lines

Refrigerant lines running directly through the access panel create a physical barrier that prevents homeowners from opening the unit to clear ice and check the drain. This forces people to guess the proper disassembly sequence or risk damaging the piping just to access the frozen coils.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
    Calling a professional HVAC technician
  2. 2
Pumping down the system, cutting out the lines, and reinstalling
