What to do when teachers and schools refuse to acknowledge ableism

When school staff and professionals deny or dismiss ableism and discrimination, parents are left with no official recognition of the harm done to their child. This leaves families powerless to secure basic safety or accountability, forcing them to fight administrators who refuse to see the problem.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
    talking to the school
  2. 2
asking in a parent sub instead of a teacher group
  3. 3
telling an adult or supervisor at the school
