Why does my car overheat only when idling?
When a car overheats specifically while stopped, it is usually caused by a failing radiator fan or fan assembly that fails to activate when airflow stops. This prevents heat from dissipating properly during traffic or red lights, causing temperatures to rise rapidly until the engine overheats.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
