Engine stalls or seizes while driving
An engine may suddenly seize or violently sputter while driving due to a severe mechanical failure like a blocked powertrain under load, or a massive vacuum leak on a carbureted engine. This sudden loss of power leaves the car completely unable to start or turn over.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1waiting for a mechanic to inspect the car on Monday
- 2taking the vehicle to a mechanic
- 3checking the fuel pump and filter
- 4adding Techron fuel additive
- 5spraying carb cleaner around the base of the carb and vacuum lines
