Why does my cat bite my legs when I walk away?

Cats often lunge and bite legs because they are protesting being left behind or trying to extend playtime when they feel you are walking away before they are done interacting. This sudden aggression prevents you from walking away freely and forces you to deal with their demand for attention.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Using treats to coax the cat or make it comfortable entering the room together
  2. 2
Engaging the cat in play or providing more attention before entering the room
