How to seal gaps around underground downspout adapters

Gaps around downspout adapters connected to underground pipes leave openings that can collect debris or allow objects to be pushed inside. While temporary fixes like duct tape are sometimes suggested, proper sealing prevents unwanted material from clogging the drainage system.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Leaving the gap alone if it drains fine
  2. 2
Wrapping white duct tape around it to seal it
  3. 3
Stuffing the gap with materials to block pests or debris

Does it matter if there's a large space? Should I stuff it with something? If so, what?source ↗
