How to deal with a rude and pushy mechanic

Mechanics often insult your vehicle's build quality and engine while relentlessly pushing unwanted upgrades. The service experience breaks down further with false time estimates and a complete lack of follow-up communication about ordered parts. Some even resort to aggressive retaliation, like intentionally dropping your phone on an oily floor when asked to use tap-to-pay.
