Said It Here

Why is Google not indexing new content on my site?

Search engines can silently stop fetching sitemaps and indexing new pages without triggering any warnings in your CMS or SEO plugins. This leaves newly published content entirely invisible and causes "Validate fix" requests to stall indefinitely, making it impossible to restore search visibility through standard admin dashboards.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Check Google Search Console manually for sitemap read dates
  2. 2
Resubmit child sitemaps individually instead of the sitemap index
  3. 3
Manually use URL Inspection to request indexing for priority pages
  4. 4
Using the URL Inspection tool to request indexing for individual pages
  5. 5
Waiting for the Validate fix process in Search Console
  6. 6
Creating sitemaps to help accelerate recovery and recrawling

During the summer holiday season we blocked almost all bot user agents by returning 403. This included GoogleBot.source ↗

After we fixed capacity issues and removed GoogleBot from blocked user-agents, we have hit the "Validate fix" button. But nothing has been happening for over 1½ months.source ↗

Asking to reindex an individual page adds the page to the index, but there are almost 1M not indexed.source ↗

Google had simply stopped fetching it. Everything published after that date was invisible.source ↗

Nothing in WordPress or Yoast indicates this. The plugin happily generates a perfect sitemap, the file loads fine in a browser, and the admin shows no warning.source ↗
