Walkable vacation towns where you don't need a rental car

Finding a single charming town to serve as a home base requires balancing beautiful scenery and good restaurants with enough local exploration to skip a car. It is hard to pinpoint one epic spot for a ten-to-fourteen-day stay, leaving people unsure where to settle down without eventually having to move between multiple hotels.

“We like to wrap up trips like this with 10-14 days in one epic spot. We were thinking Santiago but then remembered that someone had recommended Valparaiso years ago. I looked into that and I see that folks on Reddit have terrible things to say about it. I just came across the name Vina del Mar though I know little about it. Or should we choose a little beach town not far from Santiago? Or somewhere else?”source ↗
