Finding professionals to interview for a class project without connections

Students lack the personal network or institutional ties needed to find specific professionals, such as hospital IT workers or business owners, who are willing to be interviewed. Living in rural areas further isolates them from potential subjects. Being unable to complete these interview projects puts them at risk of failing their courses and not graduating.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Going directly to a local hospital in person to ask to speak with an IT director
  2. 2
Checking if the school has existing associations, placement programs, or contacts with local hospitals
  3. 3
asking for volunteers on internet forums like Reddit
  4. 4
using video calls instead of meeting in person
  5. 5
Reaching out to local professionals on LinkedIn
  6. 6
Calling local firms directly to ask for a brief interview
  7. 7
Attending professional society meetings to network in person
