How to stop confusing students with multiple assignment due dates

LMS platforms often have conflicting lock dates and submission due dates, which leaves students unsure about when homework is actually due. This confusion stops them from reliably tracking their work and forces teachers to constantly clarify deadlines.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
    requiring a homework log
  2. 2
making a Google Sheet calendar pinned to the top of the classroom
  3. 3
    creating a monthly agenda packet
  4. 4
having students use a notes app or document as a running list of assignments
  5. 5
Making the due date and lock date the same single date
  6. 6
Adhering strictly to uniform policies used by the rest of the teaching team

Yes, you have created a confusing system. You need to make those dates the same to comply with your school’s policy.source ↗
