Why does my evaporator coil drain outside instead of the bathroom?
Evaporator coil water incorrectly drains to the outside line instead of the bathroom line, even when the indoor line is verified to be clean. Because the second-floor exterior line lacks a pipe extending to the ground, the water drips from high up and creates a mess on the lawn and nearby wall.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1Cleaning or vacuuming the drain line
- 2Using an auger to clear blockages
- 3Treating the backup line as an overflow drain
- 4letting water overflow or spill out
- 5draining through a standpipe
