How to manage multiple stores selling the exact same products

Running multiple storefronts with identical inventory creates a severe operational nightmare, forcing owners to juggle separate spreadsheets, fragmented systems, and duplicated labor. This setup drains time through constant manual cross-checking for inventory and scheduling, while failing to capture meaningful market share and causing major SEO complications.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Redirecting secondary sites to clean up ad and SEO issues
  2. 2
Targeting a completely different audience or separate niche with distinct branding
  3. 3
Creating an affiliate landing page or funnel to crowd out competitors instead
  4. 4
Using different spreadsheets and separate systems for different parts of the operation
  5. 5
Scrapping intensive inventory counts until other systems are in place
  6. 6
Hiring experienced professionals or managers to handle struggling areas
  7. 7
Running separate platforms like landing pages, Joomla sections, and e-commerce software independently

I’ve had two clients try this in the past 15 years and they both ended poorly. Essentially, they thought they were capturing a lot more market share. The secondary site(s) brought in a handful of sales, but was more of a management and SEO nightmare.source ↗

We'd like to keep the domains separate for the two divisions but manage products and orders as if they were the same company.source ↗

Scheduling is one problem. But Im also dealing with inventory, ordering, labor costs, employee availability and keeping both locations following the same processes. Right now we have different spreadsheets and systems for different parts of the operation, so I spend too much time pulling information together and checking that nothings been missed.source ↗
