Why is my furnace inducer motor spinning slow and making noise?
A sluggish inducer motor can spin slowly and make a liquid-y noise that prevents the heating system from starting. Replacement motors often produce an annoying fluorescent light or generator hum that is much louder than the original unit. This leaves homeowners wondering whether the loud humming is normal or if they should demand an OEM part.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1removing the motor and draining it
- 2Wondering whether to contact the HVAC contractor to request an OEM motor replacement or simply live with the noise.
