Why won't my washing machine lid lock complete a cycle after replacement?

New lid lock assemblies often fail to complete cycles or register properly, sometimes leaving the lid stuck shut with a flashing red light. This prevents the machine from finishing wash loads and raises concerns about potential control board damage from jumping pins.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
jumping pins to fake a closed lid signal
  2. 2
replacing the lid switch assembly with non-OEM parts

I ordered a non-original lid lock switch assembly off Amazon and, in the meantime, jumped 2 pins to get the washer to register it was closed so I can finish the load of laundry.source ↗

I installed the new assembly, and it reads when it's opened or, but it doesn't complete a cycle.source ↗

Could I have fried the board from jumping the pins? Even though everything else is functioning?source ↗

The lid is stuck. When I plug it up nothing happens except the red light for the locked lid comes on and I can't get it open.source ↗

Trying to open the lid the light will flash and a click sound can be heard but nothing else.source ↗
