Car squeaks and shudders when stopped at a light
A rhythmic squeaking or high-pitched chittering noise happens when you press the brakes to wait at a stop sign or light. This noise is sometimes followed by the entire car shuddering, making it feel as if the vehicle is about to stall.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1turning the air conditioning off
- 2Removing the tire to visually inspect if the rotor is straight from the side
- 3Checking if slide pins were properly lubricated and verifying inboard and outboard pads were not swapped
