Why is my steering wheel making noise when turning?

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

   Checking power steering fluid levels and adding the correct fluid or additives like Seafoam

   standing outside the vehicle door while turning the wheel to isolate the source of the sound

   spraying lubricant into the steering column to see if the creaking goes away
