QNAP NAS shared folder opens but is empty for Apple users
Apple users trying to access a QNAP NAS find that the shared folder takes time to load and ultimately appears empty. While the mapped drive itself is visible, clicking it fails to auto-populate or display the necessary company data files inside. Trying to restore access forces people to blindly guess between confusing configuration options without understanding the differences.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1Accessing the shared folder using Windows PCs or iPads instead of macOS.
- 2Adding 'Everyone' to the basic folder share options instead of relying only on Advanced Sharing
- 3Mapping the network drives from an elevated command prompt before running the software installer
- 4Configuring both the share permissions and the local file permissions to ensure neither is blocking access
