Is my toddler crying too much compared to other kids?

Parents often worry that excessive crying means they are coddling their child or making things worse when comforting them. This constant worry, combined with behavioral challenges like school crying or difficulties with discipline, leaves parents feeling frustrated and afraid.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Distracting the child or telling them to move on when crying turns into seeking attention
  2. 2
Telling the child to shake it off and turning falls into funny moments rather than running to them every time
  3. 3
Giving a breathing space and keeping a neutral reaction to see if the child actually needs comforting
  4. 4
Talking to her gently and reassuring her that school is safe
  5. 5
    Punishing her by removing toys
  6. 6
Trying to find the underlying cause by asking questions
  7. 7
Giving her a comforting item like a small stuffed animal or sentimental jewelry
  8. 8
Using a token system or star chart to reward days without crying

My kids is almost 3 and I have heard the comment from a few other parents now that he cries too much.source ↗

When he falls or hurts himself I often pick him up and hold him and kiss what hurts etc I just kinda let him get it out instead of encouraging him to stop crying. Is this wrong on my part?source ↗

Sage parents of older children can you advise whether I am coddling him in some way? Is there something I am doing wrong that makes my kid cry more than other kids?source ↗
