Why does ABS trigger after replacing an axle?

The anti-lock braking system activates inappropriately at low speeds and during braking because a wheel speed sensor tip was damaged or debris like rust and dirt interfered with the sensor during the axle replacement. This unexpected braking interference compromises normal vehicle stopping behavior.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Inspecting the wheel speed sensor for a broken tip, rust, or dirt
  2. 2
Checking if the sensor was installed incorrectly
