Account deactivated for security reasons and stuck in ID verification loop

Routine profile updates or edits frequently trigger sudden account deactivations without clear explanations or human support to resolve the issue. Submitting a government ID through third-party services like Persona or CLEAR often results in endless processing loops with no way to log in or contact customer service.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Publicly complaining or posting on forum threads like Hacker News to draw attention and trigger manual reviews
  2. 2
Submitting government IDs through automated third-party verification services
  3. 3
Refusing to comply with identity verification requests and abandoning the platform entirely
  4. 4
Asking for more detail and payout timelines from support
  5. 5
Looking for advice on how to escalate the case
  6. 6
Refusing to use Stripe as a payment processor
  7. 7
Avoiding platforms that only offer Stripe

I have created my account while spending how many hours to organize my profile, send requests to old colleagues and acquaintances, only to find out the very next day that my account was deactivated for security purposes without me knowing the reason.source ↗

I have spend hours trying to find a way to communicate with LinkedIn helpdesk without success, only to receive an email late at night that the reason they deactivated my account is because I edited my Headline (!!!) and they considered this a phising attempt!source ↗

I went through the stupid process of providing my government ID and still cannot proceed as the third party service, Persona, still processes my request or so they say, and I'm stuck here without having a way to login so I can upgrade to a premium, or so I wanted to do but not anymore!source ↗

Stripe suddenly classified the account as “high risk” and restricted it. Customer payments are now being refunded.source ↗

Instead of answering those questions, our support tickets keep being marked as resolved.source ↗

So we are now dealing with a live nonprofit platform, real customers being refunded, and a payment infrastructure that is heavily dependent on Stripe, while nobody will clearly explain the actual issue or give us a meaningful way to resolve it.source ↗

Almost €30,000 of our company’s funds are still with Mollie and we still haven’t been given a specific payout date.source ↗

Having that amount of money tied up with no timeline makes planning cash flow extremely difficult.source ↗

That government id thing is a joke. I get endlessly harassed to identify my identity with CLEAR, which I have no problem with in principle, but I have the practical problem that "it just doesn't work" and of course there is no helpdesk.source ↗

I did this once in my life for my first ever Facebook account. I still could not proceed either, which made me even more annoyed. Now they have my ID stored somewhere. Will never, ever do that again.source ↗
