Why is keeping CRM data updated so hard?

Sales and customer teams spend their entire day communicating on Slack or Teams, but are forced to switch platforms just to record updates in the CRM. This friction causes updates to be delayed until the end of the day or missed entirely, leaving managers to constantly chase team members for pipeline information.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Delaying CRM updates until the end of the day
  2. 2
Managers chasing people for pipeline updates
  3. 3
Keeping the quote in the call note and setting a task to confirm the renewal date and notice deadline later
  4. 4
Leaving the renewal date field empty until confirmed and assessing expected close dates separately
  5. 5
Entering a placeholder date like November 1 to satisfy date fields

Sales and customer teams spend their day on slack or teams....but the CRM is where they are expected to record everything that happened.source ↗

As a result, updates get pushed to the end of the day...some never get entered at all and managers end up chasing people for pipeline updates.source ↗

I handle discovery calls, and a comment like that leaves me without a confirmed renewal date or a deadline for giving notice.source ↗

The snag is finding these deals again. If the tentative month only lives in notes, a report filtered on renewal dates won't pick it up.source ↗

I don't want to enter November 1 just to satisfy a date field and have that placeholder show up as a customer deadline in someone else's report.source ↗
