Why does my steering feel loose and clunking?

The steering feels loose and sloppy and gets worse at higher speeds. Turning the steering back and forth or jiggling it produces a weird clunking coming from the front.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
inspecting steering components for wiggling while someone shakes the wheel
  2. 2
    changed the capacitor

It's not the capacitor, it's the contactor. Change the contactor.source ↗

This contractor is making noise, it starts when the damn circuit breaker tripps. Any ideas? I have already changed the capacitor.source ↗
