Why is my overseeding failing over dead grass?
Grass seeds fail to germinate when they sit on top of a dense layer of old roots and dead grass instead of making direct contact with the soil. This prevents the seeds from establishing properly, leaving bare patches that refuse to fill in even after overseeding.

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
