How to stop wedding vendors from posting your photos online

Wedding vendors often treat intimate moments and personal details as default social media content without asking. Couples dealing with safety issues, abusive family, or simple privacy concerns find themselves having to aggressively police vendors, sometimes losing out on services entirely when vendors react poorly to basic requests for discretion.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Handwriting invitations and save-the-dates instead of using wedding planning platforms.
  2. 2
Adding clauses to contracts explicitly prohibiting the use of real names or identifiable content
  3. 3
Refusing to move forward with or declining vendors who push back on privacy requests
  4. 4
Negotiating contract terms or offering compromises such as allowing photos of surroundings or setups without guests

“Why is asking for privacy from wedding vendors not as normalized? Why is the default that wedding vendors will be posting on all their social media content of the most intimate moments of your life, leaving it to live online forever and for everyone to see?”source ↗
