Why doesn't the odometer match the Carfax report?
A mileage mismatch usually indicates a mistyped digit on a past service record, a swapped instrument cluster, or an unexplained jump after a shop visit. Without knowing if the engine's computer was also altered, buyers cannot verify the vehicle's true mileage before walking away.

“The paperwork has it at 94,341. Though only one date with one recorded mileage. Odometer shows 126,542.”source ↗
“Is there any reason why my car would have an extra 30,000 miles on it after picking it up from the shop?”source ↗
“Anyways, my dad picked the car up for me while I was at work and noticed that the odometer is now at 120k miles. Last time I drove it, it was around 90k.”source ↗
“At the last minute, I pulled a Carfax report and noticed a major discrepancy: Carfax shows the mileage should be 168,000+, but the physical odometer reads 133,000.”source ↗
“If someone swapped the instrument cluster, wouldn't the mileage read whatever is stored in the PCM/ECM? If the PCM is reporting 133k, does that mean the engine/computer was replaced, or is there a way to roll back the PCM mileage too?”source ↗
“Could Carfax just have a clerical error (like a mistyped digit during a past service record), or is this a textbook odometer rollback?”source ↗
“What else should I check on the truck to verify true mileage before walking away?”source ↗
