How to get a stuck blower wheel off a motor shaft
A blower wheel that has spun and shifted on the motor shaft can become completely locked in place, resisting standard penetrating oil and heavy hammering. Because there is often no room for a standard puller and no spare parts available, trying to force it risks destroying the wheel hub or damaging the motor.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1Using penetrating oil (WD40), sandpaper, and steel wool to clean the shaft
- 2Using an adjustable wrench or vice grips on the shaft while turning the wheel to align it
- 3Loosening the strap and sliding the assembly slightly to temporarily stop the rubbing noise
- 4Ordering a specialized puller tool
- 5applying penetrating fluid and hammering
