Why won't my electric lawnmower start when I push the button?
An electric lawnmower may fail to start due to a safety key that is slightly unseated or a defective ignition coil. Ensuring the plastic safety key is fully plugged in restores the circuit and gets the mower running.
What people tried
Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.
- 1Checking and reseating the safety key
- 2Inspecting internal components by taking the mower apart
- 3Test the ignition coil
- 4Check engine compression

“Check that the safety key is fully seated, those little plastic doodads can look plugged in but be a millimeter off and kill the whole circuit.”source ↗
