Air conditioner compressor won't start after running on a hot day

When a warm compressor fails to restart despite a new capacitor and correct refrigerant levels, the issue is often a thermal overload or a locked rotor condition preventing the motor from turning over. This leaves the system blowing room-temperature air because the compressor cannot engage until the unit cools down completely for a couple of hours.
