Said It Here

Why are my legitimate customer reviews getting deleted?

Automated fraud filters frequently flag and remove genuine reviews, leaving businesses unable to recover them because customers cannot realistically provide proof of purchase months later. Asking customers for documentation also frustrates them and risks damaging relationships. Meanwhile, platform support rarely responds, leaving merchants feeling helpless when real feedback disappears.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Contacting platform support to understand the situation
  2. 2
Changing the review collection process and getting updated templates reviewed and approved
  3. 3
waiting for the case to be available to open
  4. 4
    ignoring seller messages

“So far, roughly **200–250 reviews have been removed**, and today another **7 reviews were removed at once**.”source ↗

“If a genuine review from **six months ago** is removed today, how realistic is it to expect that customer to remember everything about their purchase?”source ↗

“If we reach out to that customer ourselves asking them to provide proof because their review was removed, I worry that they could understandably become frustrated.”source ↗

“Well my negative 1 star review was deleted, i'm not sure if it was by etsy or the seller reported it because they kept messaging me over and over and over again to change it and i ignored them.”source ↗

“On top of it all Etsy support never reached out either like they said they would. Ugh i feel defeated in some way cause they got away with it all.”source ↗
