Can't verify account without a mobile phone

Verification systems rely on text messages that cannot be received on a landline or go to phone numbers you no longer have. When backup options like landline callbacks fail, people are entirely blocked from finishing new account setups or get locked out of their existing shops. They then cannot contact customer support to explain the situation because help sites require an active login just to get assistance.

What people tried

Every workaround mentioned in the threads below. We haven’t tested any of them — and nobody here is claiming they worked.

  1. 1
Using a Google Voice or virtual phone number to receive the verification code
  2. 2
Selecting the phone callback option instead of text verification
  3. 3
Making a secondary buyer account using a backup email just to access the customer support chat.
  4. 4
Using a connected social media account to sign in, which sometimes bypasses the 2FA prompt.

“I only have a landline so QB seems unable to process my new account details because I cannot receive their joining code via text, and entering my landline number for a phone callback of the code doesn't get me anywhere.”source ↗

“I've tried, with no luck, to find out how I can contact QB either by phone or e-mail to explain my situation. All the help sites seem to assume that you are already a user, which is my problem.”source ↗
